Jianqiang Mai

Bio

Dr Mai is the Managing Director of CHPK Technical & QA Services. He is a chartered engineer and a member of IFE. He has over 20 years of experience in fire engineering and related services. He is specialised in fire safety strategy development and has provided service to projects in the UK, Middle East, and Hong Kong from RIBA Stages 2 to 6, fire risk assessment, and EWS assessments.

He has rich experience in most building types and can provide unique fire engineering solutions to fulfil the clients design aspirations and, at the same time, comply with the building regulations. Dr Mai gained rich experience, a wide range of knowledge in fire safety related areas, and multiple skills from being a senior lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire and fire engineers in several consultancy companies. Dr Mai has been involved in external wall assessments in recent years before PAS 9980 was published. Following the publication of PAS 9980, he has been trained to perform PAS 9980 assessment by attending CPD events, self-study, communication with PAS 9980 authors, and engineering practice. He has performed many PAS 9980 fire risk appraisals, signed EWS1 forms for many buildings and companies with high client satisfaction.

Recently, Dr Mai also passed the Legal Experience Training Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence (LETAPAEWE) accredited by Pearson Learning at a level 7 (Masters level) BTEC. This allows him to work as an expert witness for EWS and fire safety related fields.
