Dharmit Nakrani

Bio

Dr Dharmit is Associate Fire Engineer at CHPK Fire Engineering Limited and is an Associate Member of IFE and Member with IFSM. He is currently an Interim Charter Fire Engineer with IFE.

Dr Dharmit has experience working on various types of projects within the fire consultancy including PAS 9980 external wall review, cladding remediation projects, construction phase engineering support and writing and reviewing project specific technical reports. He has worked on Fire Safety Assessments (FSAs) of various residential buildings and has significant understanding of construction materials performance and their fire testing standards.

Prior to working with CHPK since August 2023, Dr Dharmit was working as Structural Fire consultant at Building Research Establishment at their headquarter office in Garston, Watford, UK for 3 years. At BRE, he worked on various government research projects involving fire performance of modular construction and in developing a harmonized European cladding test to assess fire performance of the facade systems.

Dr Dharmit has undertaken assessment of fire resistance of historic buildings by performing site investigation supported by thermal modelling in SAFIR (Structural and Thermal modelling tool). He undertook full-scale fire tests on tunnel linings for HS2 and other ad-hoc intermediate scale fire tests for public and private sector clients. He also undertook compartmentation surveys and external wall inspections for various clients.

Dr Dharmit completed his PhD thesis on full-scale fire performance of external wall systems. He has published several book chapters, conference, and research/journal publications in the field of external walls performance in fire in various international journals.
