Expert Witness

CHPK’s expertise in construction legislation, health and safety and contract disputes allows us to act as expert witnesses if matters end up in court.

It is clearly beneficial to resolve disputes before they escalate to litigation but sometimes that isn’t possible. Once a matter goes to court, it is vital to instruct an expert with sufficient expertise and experience in the subject area.

CHPK has considerable experience. Christopher Howe MCIOB has acted as expert witness in many cases for more than 40 years, being appointed by solicitors for claimants, defendants or, in some instances, both jointly.

The Civil Procedure Rules 1998 mean expert evidence is often the most important component of civil cases. Accurate and concise communication is essential and CHPK can offer expertise in the following areas:

  • Dilapidations

  • Construction technology – new build or refurbishment

  • Provenance of plant and machinery

  • Building contracts

  • Building defects

  • Insurance reinstatement

  • Landlord and tenant matters arising from tenant alterations
